Nicole Gricius
Psychotherapist (LPC), Onsite Coordinator
Pronouns: She/her/hers
I am mental health therapist, and I run my private practice out of my cozy backyard yurt in Homer, Alaska. I have a Masters of Science in Counseling Psychology from Alaska Pacific University, and a PhD in Clinical Sexology from Modern Sex Therapy Institutes. My interest in the mental health field grew from a deep curiosity and love of connecting with people. We humans are paradoxically all unique and different, and yet share so much in common, and that fact has been the foundation of my work as a therapist. I have had the privilege of being inspired throughout my career by talented, smart, and dynamic women who have taken the time to mentor me and who have shown me many examples of what is possible. I hope that in volunteering with Girls* on Water I can follow in their lead and share some joy, excitement, and confidence with the next generation of awesome young women. When Iām not working or immersed in some of the less glamour tasks of mothering, I enjoy getting outside with my three kids and partner as much as I can. I try to live by the rule that if I have an opportunity to get on a boat, big or small, I take it. So far, that has served me pretty well and taken me on many adventures, from gaining SCUBA certifications in night, rescue, cavern, and under water naturalist diving, to volunteering on many school field trips out on the bay, to kayaking some beautiful white water rivers in the Pacific Northwest. Being an onsite coordinator for Girls* on the Water combines some of my favorite things: well organized spreadsheets, adventures, getting to know new and interesting people, and (of course) opportunities to be on the water of beautiful Kachemak Bay.
